To avoid accidental presses in the middle of a game, you can make it activate only if you press it with level 7 force. Then you’ll have to really want to activate the button to do so. The camera module is in a slit position, bringing back some memories of the Galaxy S10. The case is already thick enough, so the camera module doesn’t stick out too much. Despite being more powerful, the Oppo tech is only claimed to fill up its 4,000mAh battery in 20 minutes.
While using the Black Shark 4 Pro as my daily driver, I found it to perform as well, if not better, than what the numbers show. The Black Shark 4 Pro piggybacks on the successes of last year’s Black Shark 4, continuing the company’s tradition of offering high-end specs for an astonishingly low price tag. Where the $579 flagship differs is in the upgraded Qualcomm Snapdragon G processor and its wealth of brightness stock ROM (firmware) (1,297 nits to the 694 of its predecessor).
Speaking of which, the Black Shark 4 Pro has convenient pop-up triggers embedded in the phone’s sides. They’re placed right where your index fingers naturally rest when holding the phone in landscape, which is excellent for high-intensity gaming. I even found myself using them in slower-paced games because the buttons were just that comfortable.
Instead, you’re treated to a single triangular RGB panel that sits just beneath the rear-facing cameras, customisable to display different colours and patterns when you’re gaming, getting calls and more. With expected upgrades when it comes to gaming, Asus did surprise me with a quality primary camera this year in the ROG Phone 6. It offers good performance in daylight and has decent low-light quality which is rare when it comes to gaming smartphones. To…
If you’re going to put out a gaming phone, then you have to make sure it scores high in terms of performance. I don’t necessarily think fast refresh rate screens are a gimmick for phones, as they still have their advantages for certain games, apps, and the overall navigation of the phone. This is more of a limitation to the optimization of current games and the performance of current mobile chips. For mobile gaming, a higher refresh rate screen can be great so long as the CPU/GPU can keep up. There are a good number of games that now support 144FPS or uncapped FPS, though many of the more popular titles like Genshin Impact, Call of Duty Mobile and PUBG do not. Moreover, even if they did support it, you’d likely be hitting GPU/CPU bottlenecks unless you were playing at lower graphical settings. If you’re more focused on the core gaming experience than the specs, the Black Shark 4 Pro is still a tempting option.
